Holiday Systems International Membership Review from Houston, Texas
Don't waste your money on the program. You can get the same or better deals online on RCI or Interval or a travel site.
They told me I could give them my time share and they would pay the maintenance fees. I submitted 2 timeshares and they would not pay for either one. I contacted them and was basically told to bad. It's worthless to me.
If you want it I will sell it for half price. Or make an offer.
Holiday Systems International - Dishonest / illegal behavior by HSI marketing company staff in Costa Rica
We sincerely believe that the Holiday Systems Intl marketing company staff (Terry, Rick, Matt, etc) are operating at best dishonestly and at worst illegally at the Villas Sol Hotel and Beach Resort in Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste in Costa Rica. We stayed there from 17th May - 21st May 2016.
They took us through the presentation as normal...it sounded good. We wanted to do due diligence and asked to check the HSI online site as our presenter said he was a member. At first they lied saying that that was not possible as they said they did not have internet access. However a hotel staff member subsequently advised us that they did indeed have Internet.
However we had a local SIM card and therefore internet access. Eventually after about twenty minutes they managed to log us on. Absolutely everything that they had told us turned out to be a lie! For example the cruises...they had repeatedly told us that the prices they showed us on a printout were per cabin not per passenger.
That did not take long to disprove, as once I selected a cruise it very clearly shows the price was indeed per passenger! I also found the exact same cruise on www.vacationstogo.com (same date, length, cruise line, boat, cabin) and that was about $100 cheaper per passenger!! Next we went looking for 1 bedroom apartments which we were told were $350/week. None were found...in fact the cheapest we could find was $700/week!
The presenters could also not show us any such apartments for $350/week or indeed hotel rooms for $200/week which we were told was the case! Challenged with this, Rick said that our presenter had been given the wrong training and that hotel rooms were in fact $100 - $1000/week! We later found out our presenter Gil had in fact been working for HSI for ten years and was the longest serving employee at Villas Sol! And indeed when my husband saw the whiteboard that they obviously used for training purposes, it showed the figures that Gil had told us:hotel rooms $200/week, 1 bedrooms $350/week, 2 bedrooms $550/week.
Everything we looked at was several fold more expensive than that! Lie after lie after lie. We of course did not buy this package. However during the course of our stay at Villas Sol we met several couples who did.
They were interested because of the promises that their timeshare would either be sold or that their timeshare fees paid for by HSI. We relayed our fears that they might have been ripped off. Although both were told that they had eight days to cancel, we know that at the time we left that one couple were told that that was not the case and that they had signed a waiver to that effect. I was showed a signed contract and the last clause states that although people can cancel, that the 'enrollment fee' of several thousands of dollars is non refundable!!
This I am sure is contrary to the Costa Rica Consumer Protection law (number 7472) and indeed any decent countries' Consumer Protection Law!! These people need to be stopped!
- Hsi marketing staff and the hsi product
I want HSI marketing staff held accountable and stopped
Not Satisfied and Didn't care for the Inventory
I purchased this package June, 2015. I tried to cancel it because we didn't like the inventory they carry for Aruba off the beach, also, I would forfeit my money.
It was too late to exchange that year my Resort Week was May, 2015. We began earlier this year for a cash exchange of membership dues but the company said the dues were too high and they had too much inventory. I saw nothing in my documents that state there is a limit, etc.
Option, they list it for lease with no guarantees.
Run Away! Don't waste your money
Holiday Systems is a scam, and they should only be selling used cars in a place without roads because their "memberships" are worthless. It's impossible to plan a vacation based on what dates you have available as they only filter by location.
They have no inventory at any destination I would even consider.
The "vouchers" I was promised when I signed up to be a member for three years never arrived, and then come to find out they expire, oh, and they aren't even vouchers, they are "discounts." What a waste of time and money. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is, don't fall for whatever line they are selling you.
- Worthless vouchers
- Website
- Inventory
Full refund
No REFUND or support as a member if there is a problem.
Being loyal to HSI does not pay off. After 7 years of membership with them and finally getting a place booked through them, with much difficulty cause they never had anything available.
They are not on your side and after taking our money for a 2 week vacation and having a problem at the resort and being unfairly evicted they did not refund our money even after the resort rebooked our rooms. They are not a company with high standards and do not care about your loyalty as a member. Cancelled our membership and did not provide any support. The day before X-mas they had two families kicked out of a resort with no options to go any where else.
Not a company that really cares about service, and or even cared about what really happened and why we were unfairly evicted. Resort was Maui Beach Vacation Club managed by Soliel Management .
High pressure sales tactics
HSI has offered to reinstate our membership for $99 plus reinstate our free cruise certificate. They content the outside contractor who sold us our membership collects all the money and we need to speak to them about a refund.
This is like saying our employees speak for themselves and not the company. On every turn when we tried to use their services we received quotes that were not competitive.
We would check out on line with Expedia and/or other web sites and get a much better deal. We will not send this company anymore money.
On a trip to Costa Rica we were approached by salesman to have a free Breakfast and listen to a sales pitch about a Travel Company. We already own two weeks of Time Shares so we keep saying no to the salesman.
They would not let up; finally we saw the last of 3 salesmen and he showed us how for $5000 we could get a free cruise for two for ____ days on a Carnival Ship (never happened).
That HSI would pay my yearly dues on my time shares (never happened); that we would get the best travel offers in the industry; they turned out to be the worst deals in the industry. I've filed a compliant with BBB in Los Vegas (home of HSI).
They have over 300 complaints filed through BBB. Warning don't go for the free anything.
Holiday Systems International - HSI Cash Exchange Program
A year ago, February 2012, my cash exchange application was appproved by HSI. After several reminders about my cheque, in August I was told the paperwork had never been received by HSI (I have e-mails indicating the contrary).
After renewed submittance of the papers, I was again told that the application had been approved. I am still waiting for my cheque due to a "high volume of transactions" and overwhelming workload at the accounting dept.
This is now a year and lots of wasted time (all mails go unanswered). I have more or less given up on HSI and just wish I wish I had never heard of them.
HSI not worth the money
Approx. 2 years ago, we were hustled by HSI in Mexico and and did fall for it. What a mistake.
I can find better and cheaper deals any where else in 5 minutes online.
The company uses high pressure sales methods with very harsh and maybe I should say, illegal practises.
Promises and lies all over the board. We tried to arrange several times hollidays with this guys, but had to find out, they were way overpriced and and not offering a service at all.
How can we sue them????????
Please let me know, I would be very interested to get my money back from this scammers.
Big Mexican Rip off
We did not trade our time share for Holiday Systems, thank God. Mayan Palace sales are rip off artists and lie through their teeth. We did book our free cruise as a discount on a larger one only to find we could have booked cheaper through the cruise line.My wife suffered some health issues and we were unable to utilize our discounted week at a Mayan Palace. We have never had such poor service from any other travel company then HSI.
We payed $3000. for this but talked to others that payed way more.It truly is a scam so beware.
Holiday Systems International
If you are being sold something that sounds too good to believe then you are either misinterpreting it or it is being misrepresented to you or a combination of both. We bought a package when we were at the Grand Mayan and have used it occasionally.
For the little we paid up front and the $99 yearly dues, it is a good deal. While the comments of not finding $299 breakaway and $499 burn weeks as the rule is true, my husband and I were savy enough to not expect that. We have done 2 of the burn weeks at about $750 each and both were at great resorts where you would not be able to match the price and would pay a lot more. We expect when we retire in about 2 years to use the program quite a bit more.
Also, the on line booking has worked okay for us. Not sure what the problem is if it is not for others. I would recommend it as long as the up front price is good. We were offered 3 or 4 differnt deals and each one got lower so we paid only $1800 up front and with the differential in pricing on the 2 trips have made over 1/2 of that back already.
The first or second deal is not good but you need to hang in until they give you a better offer.
Resorts
When you talk about a company like HSI you should also be wary of the resorts who promise something that is NOT WRITTEN on the Contract. We all know sales people are not up to par when they pitch a service to you.
Don't buy anything like this if what the sales rep is saying is NOT ON OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS saying the same exact thing as they are telling you. FOR THE ONES who have said THEY MADE ME BUY!
REALLY, get a grip and say no if its not what you want and they don't give you paperwork that says the same when you are done. Don't take there word that it will be mailed, you won't leave the car dealer without the ownership would you?
Hsi complaints are mostly false
im complaining on the people that complain about the hsi membership... all it is, is that you got the program misrepresented to you.....
dont be *** and expect everything in your hands,do your own research and stop being lazy. not all of the sales rep are liars, just like everywhere theres good and then theres bad. if you call hsi and ask them to find something for you at the best price ´THEY WILL´ and not all people have computer skills. most of the hsi owners are from 40 years of age and up....
our younger generation are the ones the master the internet.....
so before you post a complaint make sure you know what you are talking about... thank you for your time to read this..
Travel Agencies Expert Talks
HSI Interview Practices Ridiculous & CEO is Void of People Skills
Recently interviewed at Holiday Systems International and the entire process was a complete was of time. They never seemed to know who was supposed to interview me, and when I finally did interview with the CEO, Craig Morganson, he was unprofessional, insulting, degrading, and completely devoid of people skills.
He complained about his current employees in the interview, and had nothing good to say about anyone at his own company! So, if he is like this in the interview, can you imagine what he would be like to work for? No matter how much you need a job, look elsewhere.
There is a reason there is a 20+% vacancy rate at the company. Everything you read is not fiction, and try as you might to convince yourself it can't be that bad, you have been forewarned!!!
Hsi is a scam
we also have hsi and yes it is terrible $5000 for nothing yes do run, it is a scam. The hotel accomadations are terrible 3 star hotels, weve tried to get our money back and it has been unsucessful.
this was the worst investment we have ever made. They tell you nothing but lies, they should be closed down for fraud. This company needs to be ivestagated, my daughter and her friends want to go to mexico and there is absolutely no way we can use hsi the resorts are all nasty.I cant beleive I was tricked into this and fell for all of there lies so terrible to do this to honest people.
HSI a Total scam!
I was scammed by crooked salesmen as well. I was even offered a job and was told I couldn't work there unless I purchased the package.
I spent my life savings thinking I would make the money back with the great pay they said I would get. Well they took my money and laughed all the way to the bank! No one will help me and I've tried calling several times about the job and no one will call me back. Buying this package was the worst mistake I ever made!!!
Buyer Beware. They will say anything they can to get you to buy it and then they laugh at you when you leave...

HSI has provided me real savings. Not always the exact match for my request, but when they do offer, the price can't be beat.
